A Moscow court has ruled that Oleg Navaln will not be able to move freely, use the phone or the Internet until March 23.
The sentence was imposed for violating restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic during protests last weekend. Navaln was arrested Wednesday when security forces searched Navaln’s team offices and private residences.
Pressure on Navaln’s family and comrades increased after tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Russia last weekend to express support for the jailed opposition leader Navaln.
Navaln’s team called for further protests next weekend. The protests are planned in dozens of Russian cities. Authorities are warning residents not to participate in unauthorized protests.
