In Lithuania, it would probably be common to say that white is the most popular in the interior, but Airida says that it has much darker tones and colors at its heart.
“I realized that most Lithuanians are afraid of letting dark colors enter the interior, which I would not say about Norwegians. I work in the cleaning field, so I have to see a lot of different interiors. Norwegians are not afraid to experiment with colors, ”says Airida.
The family bought 130 square meters. My house is under construction in 1994, nothing has changed in it since its construction, so the interlocutor says that they still have a lot of work to do with her husband.
So far, the family has renovated several living spaces, but that’s not the end. “We paint everything from the basics, from walls to ceilings and doors. We spent almost two weeks working after hours,” says Airida.
White was replaced by dark tones
The interlocutor says that everything in the house was white, only the son’s room was pasted over with green wallpaper. “When we first entered the house, we looked around us, we decided what we would change, we told ourselves, but not in white,” laughs Airida.
– We cannot afford a large budget for repairs, so we do everything normally, with our own hands. In Norway itself, I have noticed that luxury repairs are rarely seen. Norwegians prefer minimalism, while Lithuanians prefer pomp. I joke that my husband and I are workaholics, we really enjoy working from home, doing repairs. This is the best vacation: when we return to Lithuania, we are constantly fixing something. “All the neighbors are already laughing when they see that we are again immersed in work,” says Airida.

He adds that he does everything with his own hands and did not learn such repairs; he learned everything through practice over time. “Norwegians will hire a company to do the job for them, and a Lithuanian will always find a way to do it himself,” says Airida.
In an old house, the woman says she tried the full color palette. “My husband doesn’t like to paint, that’s the job I do. I have three months with one color and I already need another. Half a year has passed, I want to repaint the house.
The youngest lepi is gray, so we chose her with my daughter in the new house. Now I feel much more comfortable at home and the dark colors are very practical, ”says Airida.

Gray lights up in the children’s rooms and in the common family space – the living room. First, the husband and wife repaired the children’s rooms so that they would have a place to sleep.
The soil is the biggest challenge
The woman goes on to say that the biggest challenge was with the flooring in the house, as there was linoleum everywhere and it was glued, so I had to get tired of removing it.
“We had no idea what we could find under that linoleum, a rotten floor or worse? We shaved that linoleum and how happy we were to find a good floor, it was enough to renovate it,” says Airida.

In the future, the family plans to radically change the interior of the kitchen, renovate the fireplace, install a gazebo and a terrace, the history of which is also interesting. Airida brought it from her previous home.
“We just installed a gazebo, a terrace and the next day they told us we would have to move. I decided not to leave my job there, so we will install it in a new house, ”says Airida.

Ensures fertility inherited from the father
When asked where she could draw inspiration from, the woman said that her brilliant father had very skilled hands. “It just came to our notice then. I’ve been doing repairs since I was a kid. Only my mom and dad go to work, and in exchange for the linoleum, I paint something, I destroy the closet (Serie). My husband jokes that he screws all the furniture with screws so that they do not move, but I said that I will still find a way to move them ”, the woman laughs, adding that painting is her hobby, very close to her heart.
The family gathered furniture and interior details. The Irish are very fond of various candles, that’s why the man likes to grab a tooth at home as a funeral home: “But he got older with me, I see, he himself brings more and more candles. By the way, there was not a single lamp in the house, so we chose new ones. Lighting is very important when dark colors predominate in the house. You can also get a lot of nature out of the interior, you really don’t need to buy everything. Let’s say I collected a lot of curves, which I placed at home ”, says the interlocutor.
What advice would you give to those who are afraid of dark colors? “Do not be afraid and experiment. In Lithuania, people are convinced that white increases the space, but even in dark colors, that space can be very large. Much depends on the environment, the windows, the lighting,” says Airida .
The woman jokes that although the house has just been repainted now, she is volatile and does not yet know when the inspiration will return to repaint everything.
