“The agitation ban comes into force on the first night of Saturday and is valid until 8 pm on Sunday. At night, the agitation ban no longer exists when neighborhoods are closed,” said Laura Matjošaityt pres, President of the Commission Electoral Central (CEC), to BNS.
Electoral agitation is prohibited 30 hours before the start of the elections and on the election day before the end of the vote, with the exception of external political advertising published before the start of this electoral campaign ban.
According to the head of the CEC, during the ban on agitation it is not possible to post new posts from agitation on social media, change profile photos to agitation, as well as share old posts. It is not necessary to delete articles before publishing the published entries.
“Everyone is prohibited from campaigning – candidates, political activists and voters, so it should be noted that this is a period of silence in which there is no need to campaign,” said L. Matjošaitytė.
Violation of the prohibition on electoral campaigning during this period imposes a fine of 140 to 300 euros for individuals and 300 to 1150 euros for members of the commission and observers.
The fine to the media for unauthorized agitation during the insurance period ranges from 2,700 to 6,000. euros.
