“I see that the thoughts on child money expressed yesterday in a television interview have become a very debatable idea today. The fact is that yesterday I did not speak about the sudden revision of the child’s money order in any of the interviews,” wrote V. Čmilytė-Nielsen on Facebook.
The president of the Liberal Movement clarified that she had only said what she had mentioned for several years:
“1. The children’s money helped lift many families out of poverty. It’s good.
2. The child’s money is also received by families whose incomes are such that they may not see much when the bank account is replenished with 60 euros. This is not very accurate support. The state must pay to distribute your money as accurately as possible.
3. Is it necessary to help a family whose income is, say, 1000 euros? Yes. Is it necessary to help a family whose income exceeds 5,000 euros? Maybe not”.
“The accusations, inferences and calculations of the economists are something interesting. And useful, I will not hide. I remember that before there were them, just from a different angle, how to change the established NPD order and how much it will increase in the self-government of the bureaucracy, ”wrote V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.
According to the president of the Liberal Movement, children’s money is too sensitive a subject to rush to change.
“We will see what the budget looks like, we will see what the economy looks like, the DNA plan. Then we will consider what to do with the legacy of the peasants. Taking into account not only the questions of the economists, but also the proposals,” said V Čmilytė-Nielsen.
It cannot be denied that you need financial incentives to raise children.
Aušrinė Armonaitė, president of the Freedom Party, said that the financial incentive to raise children should be maintained.
“It’s just a question of whether child money is the best model. Perhaps a tax cut would be a better way for those raising children. In that case, we would help those who are raising children and encourage those who work. We need to see family support measures in the whole context, conclusions should not be drawn from one sentence.
The priority of the Freedom Party has always been the development of free and responsible personalities. And we will discuss the mechanisms of financial assistance in the coalition, nobody proposes to change overnight without discussing both in the coalition and with the public ”, said A. Armonaitė.
As already announced, Aušrinė Armonaitė, president of the Freedom Party, and Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, president of the Liberal Movement, who put forward proposals for the future coalition program, say they find many common ground. According to V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, the liberal parties agree mainly on human rights issues, which they qualify as one of the most important, and says that the Liberal Movement would support the Freedom Party’s proposal to review the payment of children’s money so that only families with a poor economic situation receive support.
Such ideas received stormy reactions. You can read more about it here.
