“Due to the MAMA awards event held in Kaunas, Žalgiris Arena yesterday, the Kaunas Police have started to clarify the circumstances, all the collected material will be evaluated and decisions will be made. Thank you all for your citizenship, “wrote the Lithuanian police on Facebook.
Ramūnas Matonis, Chief of the Police Department’s Communication Department, said his Kaunas police received around 30 reports of possible rapes at the event on Saturday.
“All the circumstances will be reviewed and it will be determined what violations there were, who violated them, and then there will be different decisions,” R. Matonis told BNS.
At Žalgiris arena, the event was held without spectators, its organizers announced that all participants had been screened for COVID-19 prior to the event, but there was outrage in the public space.
Some spectators were surprised that the quarantine rules were not followed at the “Žalgiris” arena in Kaunas, where the awards were held. The interpreters were without masks covering their faces, and the country’s stars taking the stage did not keep their distance, shaking hands.
Politicians and famous people of the country also reacted to this.
“I expect a quick and strict reaction from the responsible institutions,” praised the conservative Justas Džiugelis, a member of the Seimas, the MAMA music awards that shook Lithuania on Saturday night.
“The cynicism of the organizers of tonight’s MAMA and the proud participants is incomprehensible. I expect a quick and firm response from the responsible authorities. The party during the plague is unforgivable”, – J.Džiugelis evaluated this situation on Facebook in a way very strict.
The producer of the event Linas Zareckas was one of the first to express her opinion.
“The government announces – We are going to die! Later, thousands of people find themselves in traffic jams near police firebreaks. And on the last night, you’ll see the MAMA red carpet, a serious fight that hasn’t been around for years.
There are no restrictions for the rest. Lithuanian Tula thinks “bitch dėjau!” He wrote on Facebook.
Comedian Paulius Ambrazevičius expressed his opinion on the event that sparked the discussion. “Only now did I realize that I needed to form a group with my parents and my brother, we could have met tonight,” he did not hide his outrage on his social network account.
