Jeanne and Vislav, who live in front of the Alien Registration Center, had a restless night: there were shots, explosions and smoke on Wednesday night.
“The neighbors called me and asked me what was happening here. I said I don’t know anything. I got out, looking at the cars driving here, the police driving. There were some explosions with the gas, he told me, ”Jeanne said.
Riots broke out at night when several dozen aggressive asylum seekers tried to leave the center.
“They yelled, began to pressure officials, showed disrespect for legal requirements through active actions and indeed, at some point, there was probably already a certain threat to officials and the people around them,” said Alexander Kislov, head of the Foreigners Registration Center.
Not reaching an agreement with foreigners, the use of border special forces, the police.
“Already when their active actions threatened the officers and those around them, they had to use a smoothbore pump pistol loaded with rubber bullets. Shoot twice into the air and use gas, “he explained.
About 70 migrants participated in the riots. They managed to calm them down in an hour and a half, no medical help was needed. The eight major primers were identified and isolated. Most are Iraqi citizens. They reportedly expressed their dissatisfaction with their compatriots detained for two days.
“There is a common frustration for these individuals and people. Dissatisfaction not only with the conditions, but precisely with the fact that they were prevented from going unhindered to Western Europe. In other words, to that dream land, ”said Rustama Liubajev, Commander of the State Border Guard.
Responsibility for what is happening at the Foreigners Registration Center lies with the organizers of illegal migration and the Belarusian regime, the interior minister said.
“We really created those conditions that guarantee human rights and it is not some kind of five-star hotel or spa. The laws are in force in Lithuania, there are procedures and we have to follow them, ”said Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė.
The minister does not rule out that there is more than one such disturbance in the migrant camp.
“Clearly, there are certain subcultures and there is a certain hierarchy, there are cultural issues of mindset. These things work and, it seems, we need translators as soon as possible, ”added the minister.
A permanent interpreter is expected to appear here on weekdays next week, and now four available interpreters will be selected based on the situation. It is also planned to increase the number of officials. There are currently 255 asylum seekers at the Pabradė Alien Registration Center.
A. Bilotaitė agrees to negotiate with the European Union Agency for Refugees and Support for help in solving refugee problems. President Gitanas Nausėda also promises to speak about the influx of migrants at the European Council (EVS).
“In order to strengthen the protection of the external borders of the European Union with additional capacity, so that we can effectively deal with the influx of migrants, because we really cannot accept them in a rubber bag.” We do not have the capacity to do so and we have to address this as soon as possible as it is becoming a problem for the entire EU. “
A total of 507 illegal immigrants from Belarus entered Lithuania this year, six times more than last year for the entire year.
