Director of the Vilnius Lyceum Saulius Jurkevičius at the show Delphi day He assessed the Lithuanian Language and Literature Test, but assured that the topics formulated are very abstract, suitable not for students, but possibly for students.

“I think we see the same wording of the themes every year, they are very abstract. It is these abstract thematic formulations that create the preconditions for entering a very vague field of thought. If we formulate the meanings of vacations or the relationship of generations in Literature is a very broad field. I think these are not student topics, they could possibly be written by second or third year philology students, but certainly not students, because for students, topics should be formulated in a more understandable, clear and similar.

Here is a self-deception with the formulation of themes. As for the meanings of vacations in literature, it is, after all, a great abstraction that leads to nothing, clings to pseudo-philosophizations, and leads to some vague spaces. I think this is a tactic that continues year after year. It is also possible to mention the difficult situation in which the teaching of literature finds itself and, in general, on the perception of the context of writing ”, stated S. Jurkevičius.

According to the director of Lyceum, at this moment it is as if we closed our eyes and did not want to notice that changes are necessary in the Lithuanian language and literature exam.

“This exam is the most controversial and the most questionable. And when it is said that we don’t really understand the content, I understand both the content and the programs enough. I see how absurd it has become with teaching and examining the Lithuanian language in general. This is a deep problem that should be addressed in principle. What is happening is probably not good and I think we should not close our eyes to this process, ”said S. Jurkevičius.

The interviewee also says that distance learning could have helped students who have the will and want to learn on their own.

“I don’t think distance learning can put one foot, it could just help you focus better or prepare more calmly for all exams. Students had to get the teacher’s advice. I think going to school even created better conditions for students to prepare, focus and have more time to work independently. Only those terms are not clearly defined, “says the Lyceum principal.

S. Jurkevičius says he does not see the problem of examinations being conducted at such a short distance.

“It just came to our attention then. I think graduates are tired of that wait, I think the sooner the exams are done, the better it will be for everyone. I don’t see any problems,” says the director of the Lyceum in Vilnius.

Rūta Krasauskienė, director of the National Education Agency, said on the program that there were no major problems during the exam. It is true that after the pandemic it was necessary to adhere to some

“Yes, it was really necessary because the number of candidates in the groups was reduced. If in the previous year there were 14 candidates in the exam room, this year only 9, then we had a couple of thousand groups on the Lithuanian language and literature exam this year more in the previous year. Of course, the candidates had to go to the examination centers with protective equipment, the schools had to have disinfectant, ventilate the facilities, observe the requirements of the safe distance, “says R. Krasauskienė in the Delfi diena program.

We remind you that the majority – 17.3 thousand. – graduates chose to keep the state, 8.5 thousand. – school exam.

The Lithuanian language and literature exam, along with another chosen subject or maturity job, is required to obtain a maturity certificate.

According to the head of the National Education Agency, Rūta Krasauskienė, as in previous years, students should write an essay, choosing one of the two reasoning themes or one of the two literary themes. During the exam, two authors will be presented for each topic, but they will be recommended.

“The requirement to trust at least one compulsory author remains, but students will be able to choose it not only from those indicated in the topic, but from the 36 mandatory authors specified in the general program of this subject, which are also included in the task” R. Krasauskienė said in the report.

Passers-by may use the digitized works of the mandatory authors of the program on a computer disconnected from the Internet. In total, the computer can be used for 20 minutes, or used at one time, or twice for 10 minutes.

To protect against coronavirus, up to five people can use a computer, mouse, and keyboard, the touchscreen will be disinfected each time, or disposable gloves will be provided.

R. Krasauskienė recommends that candidates assess whether they really need resources, as their examination will take time.

Due to the threat of the coronavirus, this year more measures are being taken: maturity exams are carried out in groups of nine (previously – 14 each), therefore, 18 additional test centers have been established in the municipalities, almost 2000. additional groups.

Candidates should also be healthy, not obliged to isolate themselves and follow the instructions of other professionals.

The main session of the maturity exam will end on July 21 with the physical maturity exam. The new session will take place from July 22 to August 4.
