The Greens’ victory was determined by two fantastic quarters: the first and the fourth.
At the start of the match, the Greeks, who had completely taken away the visitors from Tel Aviv, gained a double-digit lead (17: 7) after just seven minutes of play, and at the end of the half they even managed to lead to 25: 7.
Coming up from a deep hole, Maccabi nearly wiped out his lead in the third quarter, scoring 15: 2 after the streak, 55:58, but PAO shifted to a higher gear again in the final half.
The PAO did not miss five minutes, attacking solidly in the final minutes and gaining a landslide advantage: 79:59.
Former Aaronas White from Žalgiris played the most productive match of the season among the winners. The American played 29 minutes and during that time he threw 15 points (5/6 double, 0/3 trit, 5/6 penalty), bounced 7 balls and scored 19 utility points. His previous record for the season was 14 points.
Despite the victory, the Athens Club remains close to the bottom of the Euroleague – PAO is in 15th place. Maccabi occupies a higher echelon.
