After checking the trains in Klaipeda, they also heard an unexpected excuse: the ticket price for the passenger has increased significantly.

On Thursday, an inspection was carried out at the Klaipėda city train station for non-compliance with quarantine conditions, and passengers ready to travel by train were inspected. When asked where these were going, they assured that they had a reason for it.

“I’m going home to Telšiai, I was at the doctors, they operated on me, I’m not afraid of an exam, I have all the documents,” Vacys said.

Another girl waiting for the train said that she had come to Klaipeda to do her study practice. “I’m going home from my studies, I did an internship in Klaipeda, so I’m not worried, because I have all the necessary documents,” Gabrielė said.

According to police officers, the inspection revealed that a passenger had no documents and no justifiable reason, for which he faces administrative responsibility.

“During the inspection measure, about 30 passengers were registered, one passenger had arrived in Klaipeda without a justifiable reason. A week ago, he came from Radviliškis to Klaipėda, to a friend, to look for work, but he did not provide any justifiable reason and administrative proceedings were initiated against him. Other passengers provided all justifiable reasons, ”said Ričardas Šėgžda, Principal Investigator at the Klaipėda County Main Police Station.

A person at risk of administrative responsibility can be fined between € 500 and € 1500 for breaching the quarantine conditions.

If such an offense is detected for the first time, the fine will be € 250.

“The man justified that he did not know, even though the quarantine had lasted a long time. The person came to another municipality, and the Klaipėda municipality is a black area, in any case, the passenger had to be interested and know. And other passengers went home or from work to their place of residence, or they went to study in Vilnius and vice versa, coming from Vilnius to Klaipeda, they go to Vilnius ”, said R. Švėgžda.

He stressed that during the holiday weekend, the police officers would be very active in conducting such inspections not only in public places, at the bus station, but also at the access points of the city of Klaipeda, and automobiles circulating through the city would also be stopped.
