The reader said he had bought a trip to Turkey for May 19. He had to rest there with his family for 9 days.

As assured, the total cost of the trip amounted to 2.7 thousand. Therefore, it was decided to transfer a deposit of 600 euros to the Tez Tour tour operator and pay the remaining amount later. Under the contract, the remaining money was to be paid 21 days before departure.

However, as the woman said, when the quarantine was extended in the country one week after another, it was clear that the trip would not take place in May, since the quarantine would be extended again. The woman considered postponing the vacation to a later date, but in that case the trip for the family would have become significantly more expensive.

Recently, a reader claimed to have received unpleasant news from his travel agent.

According to her, the letter indicated that Tez Tour promises to apply a termination fee because the family did not pay the remaining ticket price 21 days before the trip.

“And we don’t pay because it’s obviously not going to happen,” she said angrily. And in fact, on Wednesday, the government decided to extend the quarantine until the beginning of the summer.

Despite the fact that the quarantine will continue during the woman’s planned trip, Inga is not the only client of the company who has received notifications about terminated contracts.

In his experience, soc. Other travelers shared on Facebook. Some said they did not promise to pay the remaining amounts as well, others said they went directly to the hotels where they had to stay during the trip and found out if the latter planned to work.

Previously, Sururi Chorabatyri, head of the Turkish Federation of Hotel Owners (TUROFED), said the hotel plans to start work in early June, according to the portal.

“We hope to open the season in late May and early June. However, we will really start only when the virus situation is completely stabilized both in our country and in those countries that send tourists to us,” emphasized the manager of TUROFED, and assured in later speeches that hotels can be opened even later.

Suggest choosing a later date

Delfi commented to Tez Tour. Inga Aukštuolytė, head of the company’s public relations and marketing department, explained the situation.

According to her, according to the travel contract, after purchasing trips in accordance with the pre-purchase conditions, the initial payment must be paid on the day of signing (concluding) the Tourism Services Agreement, and the rest of the price must be paid 21 days before departure.

“In accordance with the decisions and resolutions of the responsible institutions of the Republic of Lithuania, the trips are canceled until the end of the quarantine.

There are no clear decisions on subsequent periods, so these trips are not canceled, they are subject to the terms of the travel contract. Given the difficult situation and uncertainty of the future, we offer travelers free of charge, often keeping the same price, to change the travel date to a later date or to write a request to terminate the contract without termination fees.

If the traveler does not make any decision, the contract is terminated and a reasonable termination fee is applied, which depends on the time remaining before the start of the trip, “he explained.
