The coronavirus pandemic did not deter loved ones Valdas and Vismante from celebrating what is extremely important to both of them. To mark love, although in a more modest company than they would like, they made up their minds on August 7 at the Vilnius Cathedral.

At first, the girl was captivated by his voice.
Going back a year when he first saw Vismante, Valdas remembers first of all the talent of an opera soloist who got caught up in him and who, by the way, made black acquaintances.
“We met more than 2.5 years ago, that is, on January 7, 2018, during the Three Kings and during my party event, the Festival of the Three Kings. Wismante was there as a performer, a singer who donated her concert to members of our community. This is how we met, then we went for coffee, we talked and we became friends, ”smiles the deputy mayor of Vilnius.
As the man says, the black man still with Vismante’s laughter remembers the moment when after the concert, during a buffet, they shot each other with their eyes. Apparently, already at that moment, more than sympathy burned between the couple.

However, soon, over time, V. Benkunskas says that he knew his beloved better and better. Vismantė surprised him with his general approach to many things, and the fateful letter seems to have played a similar approach to family.
“This is very important because we are both from families where the concept of family and its values are very high. In general, one of those beautiful qualities probably doesn’t exist in her, and the man as a personality is understanding. It probably fascinated me, and little by little, knowing each other, love arose, which determines the fact that we decided to unite our lives ”, says the interlocutor.
It is true that a year ago, on July 7, another very important stage took place in the couple’s relationship: commitment. According to V. Benkunskas, they were inevitable, because he, as a conservative, had to follow the traditions.
“I flew by the sea, there was a strong wind, although the sun was shining, but it was cold. It all happened while we were sitting in the dunes for the two of us as the sun went down. After that, we immediately started planning the wedding, ”recalls the Vilnius deputy mayor of the romantic moment.

Wedding surrounded by loved ones
By choosing a wedding date last September, the couple no longer intended to change their plans this year, despite the fact that most newlyweds were scared by the restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic.
“When it all started in the spring, we decided after the meeting that we would get married under any circumstances, even if everything was closed, we will not be able to invite guests or weddings in public. We would remain married only between the closest people and the priest ”, explains V. Benkunskas.
Still, the man does not hide the joy that there are not too many requirements at the moment and there are opportunities to invite the closest people or who really want to greet the partner.
“Yesterday we spoke with the bishop about it. So, as long as circumstances allow, apparently when there will be a private mass and a private ceremony for those closest to us, there will be no major demands.
Still, we will probably keep our distances, everything will be sanitized, but basically we will probably limit ourselves to that, and since the celebration is not large, the circle of guests, closest people and friends is not large, we will not have to meet any special requirements. security ”, V. Benkunsk.
When asked why he chooses to marry in church, the politician does not hide the fact that such a thought was not questioned by his partner due to strong beliefs.
“Both we and Vismante are from religious families, where Christian traditions are nurtured and passed down from generation to generation. There was no deliberation on this. Furthermore, Vismante, as a performer, has sung through people’s connections many times, and she herself apparently imagined that her marriage must be like this. For me too, the family is above all the blessing of the Church when a priest testifies, ”says the interlocutor.
The honeymoon is shrouded in ignorance
After the church ceremony, the couple have plans to have more fun with their loved ones. According to V. Benkunskas, it will be just a dinner, so the couple celebrated their marriage quite modestly.
It is true that later, as is the custom in many newlyweds, the couple will not go on their honeymoon. Well, at least for now. “The situation of the pandemic is changing very fast, we will only begin to think about it on Saturday or Sunday,” says the interlocutor, adding that he is not thinking about it yet.
Even for the wedding ceremony itself, it is difficult to worry so far as there are many pending works before the holidays. “Until now, there is no time to worry, because even now I am at work, handling the last things before my vacations with colleagues, and the young man, I know, is a little more excited. The excitement, of course, will be before the ceremony, he laughs. – But it is not scary, but a fun emotion and apparently it is something in life that you have lost and will not experience anymore. So it’s a lot of fun. “
