The sun was shining on Sunday, but a strong south wind was blowing. However, many people took a walk along J. Basanavičiaus street on the festive afternoon. Communication between municipalities was not even considered to be restricted. Only a small part was made up of local residents of Palanga, the vast majority were owners of metropolitan areas.

Lina and her husband Karolis are among them. According to the couple, “they have a place to stay” in Palanga. When asked how they estimate that very few people can go to the spa due to the quarantine, they answered that they are not surprised or hurt. “We did not come to Palanga for fun, but to rest. So there is no shortage of vacationers and noise in that crowd, ”Lina laughed.

He added that it is frustrating for a company that cannot operate.

Although there is a restriction of movement between municipalities on weekends, members of a family or household may travel to a municipality other than the one in which they live, where they own real estate owned by one of the family or household members. However, traveling is only possible in conjunction with the property owner.

Many restaurants on J. Basanavičiaus Street are closed, so people walk to the bridge, turn around, and come back.

Edmundas Sakalauskas, owner of one of the few “Žuvinė” restaurants operating on J. Basanavičiaus street, was asked why he decided to work when many of his colleagues were closed and replied that it would not be boring.

“It just came to our knowledge then. But working at a time like this, the team and I feel like they are doing more than just cooking. Almost everyone is grateful to people who are not so many,” explained the businessman.

He said food is taken and sold two days a week during the quarantine. “It just came to our attention then. However, after some completely ’empty’ Fridays, we only work two days. During St. We will work three days at Easter, because Monday is also a day off. It is true that Saturday was long cold, so there were few people. Perhaps it is because many were afraid of intimidation not to drive and did not even try to “slip”. But today, Sunday, the weather is better and the customers more. We calculate that in those days in that we work we have no losses, we work profitably ”, said E. Sakalauskas.

There are only a few cafes on J. Basanavičiaus street in Palanga, which sell sandwiches and coffee to go.

The movement of people between municipalities in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania will be valid for the entire long weekend until 2021. April 6, 24:00
