Some settled in Daukšos str. in the bedroom, others were forced to look for apartments to rent. A woman who lived on Gerosios vilties street with a teenage daughter took me and two other girls to live in a one-bedroom apartment.
The hostess put a bed in the small kitchen and slept there, and we, about 15 square meters. meters in the living room on the sofa and in bed with her daughter.
We live there the whole school year, then in a dormitory, with many beds in one room.
We were young and we were not looking for luxury, and we had no money, because the scholarship was only 14 rubles. And that’s not for everyone. Only for those who passed the exams very well, the scholarship was increased to 28 rubles. After two years of school, our group was supplemented with girls who had graduated from high school.
In March 1968, 24 girls received diplomas of sewing technicians-technologists from A. Drukteinis, director of the technical school, and traveled to the districts of Lithuania according to their appointments, several remained in Vilnius.
Most of us had to work in domestic service plants at the time. After we graduated from technical school, we had agreed to meet and write this in a will for future generations, which we buried in the corner of the administrative building the oil that had grown.
So far we have not kept that promise. During the construction and reconstruction of Gerosios vilties street, maybe someone found our will, it is not clear.
At the technical school we were attended by an excellent educator Pranutė Kiškienė, led by Eugenijus Petrovas, signatory of the Lithuanian Independence Act, a well-known Lithuanian language teacher, traveler and photographer to Ona Pajėdait phys, a very strict physics teacher to Vytautas Tarasonis, mathematician and bodybuilder Algirdas Čiučelis Vitartaitė, specialty teachers Ališauskas, Kašėta (can’t remember names) and other excellent specialists who know their subjects. We carry out specialized production practices in the Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius “Lelija” sewing factories.
Every year we actively participate in various clubs, tourist and sports festivals in the Paneriai forest sites, tourist trips in the united republics, the main soul of which was O. Pajėdaitė, E. Petrovas and other teachers.
Almost every fall, for a few weeks, we had to grow potatoes on collective farms, do other jobs. Although it was difficult, we were always accompanied by laughter, games, parties.
A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to resume communication with a classmate, a roommate we hadn’t met with for almost 40 years. We agreed to find partners and arrange a meeting after 53 years. This is quite difficult to do because we are already the place of residence of a respectable mother, grandmother who has changed her surnames. But we are optimistic and we believe in success.
With this message, I want to ask everyone who reads it and recognizes the girls in the photo to write (send letters to [email protected], the writing will forward them to the author of the letter).
Dear friends of the course or your loved ones, please respond. I would very much like to see you all, hug you, talk, remember the years you have lived, the short life you have passed, your trials, joys and joys.
