“I am pleased to have been able to present my vision, both for the green field and sustainable mobility, and for openness and transparency in ministry. I really hope that, no matter who the minister is, these priorities will be top priorities, ”K. Adomaitis told BNS on Friday.

He thanked the Freedom Party and Prime Minister-designate Ingrida Šimonyte for their confidence.

“It just came to our attention then. Since I don’t have it, the situation is as it is,” said a representative of the Freedom Party.

Adomaitis said he did not want to comment on the president’s decisions, but said he understood that his candidacy had been rejected on the basis of arguments that had been made public last week and this week.

After G. Nausėods meeting with K. Adomaitis last week, the Presidency said that it had not received clear answers from the candidate about his team, although he emphasized that the president was impressed by K. Adomaitis’s approach to the use of technology, improving the accessibility of public transport and a position on greener transport.

In a press conference on Friday, G. Nausėda said K. Adomaitis seemed “familiar” with the situation in the transport sector, where quick solutions are needed.

According to G. Nausėda, a new candidate for transport ministers should be announced in the near future, and the head of state promises to sign the decree with government approval no later than Tuesday morning.

The president also announced that he had rejected Dalia Miniataitė’s candidacy for agriculture minister.
