Additional € 200: who will receive it, when exactly and for whom

Currently, the monthly minimum wage is € 607 before taxes, or about € 437 by hand. According to Sodra, 142,000 people received this or less money in June. population.

Employees pay not only personal income tax (GPM) but also contributions to Sodra from their minimum wage. Unlike many European Union (EU) countries, no pension in Lithuania is taxed in GPM.

More than 607 euros of tax-free pension now receives 27 thousand. Lithuanian. 438 euros and more pension (that is, more than winning the minimum in the hands) receive a total of 160 thousand. population.

Therefore, many workers have to settle for lower incomes than retirees. However, a lump sum of € 200 was also awarded to all pensioners, regardless of the amount of the pension (some exceeded € 1000).

They will be paid from this week and will be paid at the end of the month, and if the pension begins to be paid from September, at the end of the year.

Who will spend the extra money on

The tv3.lt portal interviewed retirees living in different parts of the country and asked where they would allow lump sums, how they evaluate such a measure in general.

Retiree Aldona (71), who lives in a village in Kaunas County, said she would have a useful place to spend a lump sum.

“I am thinking of spending money on construction. In the summer we decided to repair the old barn and the shed.” Or we will buy an electric stove. I have not decided yet. But anyway, these benefits are a bit ridiculous to me.

I realize that perhaps there is someone who really lacks money and does not make ends meet. Granted, however, retirees were not the ones who suffered the most from the coronavirus and the crisis it caused. I don’t know, I think paying lump sums to everyone without exception is a waste of money, “said the woman.

According to her, many retirees not only did not suffer as a result of the pandemic, but were also able to make additional savings.

“For example, our son has helped us many times, he bought everything according to the list, brought it and left it at the door. He saved me like this, ”said the pensioner.

Her husband Adam (72) said that the € 200 he received would also contribute to the repairs.

“Will the wife pay for everything? If the relatives do not charge more for the work, then the materials really cost. But of course, first you have to get that money,” said the interlocutor.

Dalia (66), who lives in Telšiai, said similarly: “This unique benefit will help me a lot. I plan to spend the money to repair my apartment. “

Jadvyga (65), who lives in Šiauliai County Village, did not enjoy the lump sum too much:

“Those 200 euros are not much, nor did I think about where to spend them. It will only be extra money for necessary expenses: food, medicines. Perhaps we will give a few euros more to a daughter studying in Vilnius. I didn’t really plan anything on my own. “

Her husband Juozas (69) is already thinking about the next agricultural job, who always needs extra money in town.

“What are you going to do here with those 200 euros, if you have a farm, that money is going to come loose quickly, and especially in summer, you need to mow, the tractor breaks down – buy spare parts, you will have to throw grain, you will have to return to pay a lot, it costs money ”, said the interlocutor.

At that time, Janina (87), a resident of Anykščiai district, was already thinking about going shopping:

“I will spend money on the maintenance of the garden, I will cut the dried apple trees. I am happy with the benefit, because I spent a lot of money in the summer mowing the grass and I did not have enough to handle the apples. Now it will be an opportunity to cut them.”

Kaunas-based Genovaitė (84) lives in his own home, so he said he would save money for a black day; I had no urgent purchases.

Money disbursements and scams

Malgožata Kozič, Chief Specialist of the Sodra Communication Department, reported that the money will start to be paid to retirees in the coming days and will be paid at the end of the month.

“As lump sums of 200 euros will be paid along with the periodic pension payments, the number of payments will almost double. Therefore, in order to ensure the smooth payment of benefits and regulate the flow of transactions, the timing of payments to accounts has been extended to more paydays.

Beneficiaries can be contacted on days other than normal. Most pensioners will receive payments into their accounts earlier than usual (starting August 6), some on a normal payment date, and a small number will receive benefits one day later than usual. Home delivery and collection at the post office will take place on a regular schedule, ”said M. Kozič.

Any changes related to pensions and fringe benefits often attract the attention of scammers. For example, when posing as employees of Sodra or other institutions, scammers visit residents’ homes, ask for their personal information, “count” fake euros, and so on.

“So far we have not received alarming reports. However, we always remember that Sodra employees do not visit residents’ homes, so we urge people to be vigilant, not to allow scammers into the house, not to give them personal information over the phone, “warned a Sodra representative.
