After the news portal contacted Vilnius Deputy Mayor E. Tamošiūnaitė, she denied those circulating speeches and indicated why the municipality sent guidelines for kindergartens at the Children’s Home.
“We talked to the managers about how to work with children who are left at home for one reason or another. It is not distance education, it is home schooling where at least once a week the educator has to contact the family, send assignments, etc. In fact, we work normally and parents can bring their children, the kindergartens work as usual. However, after looking at the numbers, we found that some children stay home and parents have the opportunity to stay. “

However, the deputy mayor emphasized that there is talk of homeschooling, and also pointed out that there are cases in which the entire group of the nursery is isolated.
“Now I don’t remember exactly how many such groups there were last week, but in that case, the educator works with, let’s say, children remotely. This means that all the children are at home and have a two-week self-isolation process ”.
E. Tamošiūnaitė pointed out that only 55% of kindergartens in the capital attended last week. children.
“If we look at the numbers when there was no pandemic and compare the same period to last year, around 75-80 percent attended. Apparently most or part of the parents work remotely, have the opportunity and take advantage of it. In order not to break the connection with the child, whose parents do not allow them to go to kindergarten at this time, we have sent those guidelines on how to raise such a child at home in consultation with the leaders.
According to the representative, if the government decides that all kindergartens should be switched to distance education, then this should be done, but so far the municipality itself has no such plans.
