“A driver has been arrested and will be taken to the police station for clarification,” Samorakovskaya told BNS.

Giedrius Mišutis, representative of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS), said that SBGS officials who saw the protest outside the border area sought to appease the warring parties and used the police to help.

A week ago, Belarusians living in Lithuania organized a similar campaign near the Lavoriškės border crossing, and it was carried out peacefully.

The protesters seek to draw attention to the situation in Belarus, demanding the release of political prisoners by Alexander Lukashenko’s regime and calling for tougher sanctions against the regime by the European Union.
