The participants of the event tell differently the circumstances of the accident. The driver of a tractor with Russian numbers claims to have overtaken the bus when an Audi collided with the rear of the semi-trailer. And the passengers in the car (two drunk guys) say they were driving in the second lane when the truck driver switched from the first to the second lane just before their car, causing an accident.
When it hit the rear of the semi-trailer, Audi crashed into a barrier, doubled it (at this point, officers on the dividing strip, on the grass, then found the driver’s hand), flipped and skidded about a hundred meters. The tractor stopped a hundred yards further.
Audi passengers were hardly injured, only slightly injured by the glass. An ambulance did not take them to the hospital. And the driver (born in 2000) lost his left arm, it was torn between the shoulder and the elbow. The hand was found in the grass a few meters from the accident site.
The wounded man was apparently shocked: with a very heavy bleeding, he went to a crane that had stopped long ago and asked the driver to give me water. He gave her water and a blanket.
An ambulance arrived and took the injured man and his hand to the hospital as soon as possible.
The drunk Audi passengers told the driver not to drink, but he told them that he had drunk with another company. According to the boys, the injured do not have a driver’s license.
At the scene, firefighters and police officers drew attention to the technical condition of the car: the brake mechanism of one wheel is completely broken, there are no brake pads.
Due to this accident, traffic to Vilnius was closed and a queue of trucks formed.
