A. Straup: Of course, a last name can turn into a sweet

A trusted chair, a complete reward, a well-known surname that opens many doors. It’s not just about me, smiles Audrius Straupas, editor-in-chief of the Klaipėda regional television news service “Balticum TV”. “My case is definitely not a story about what kind of greenhouse I live in,” says the interlocutor.

Little great works

It was in September that 32-year-old A. Straup began counting the ninth year of his television job, but, as he puts it, it’s just a dry official statistic.

“I’ve been on television since childhood, as far as I can remember, I grew up with it and in it,” says Vlad Straup, son of Balticum TV’s director of programs and one of the founders of cable and regional television.

Like today, Audrius remembers tense but extremely interesting weekends, when several author shows were filmed on television many years ago.

“Klegesys was bigger than every day. My main job was washing cups of coffee or tea. It wasn’t until much later that I realized that when everything was counted to the nearest minute, everyone had their jobs and about eight guests. invited to the show at the same time, a certain contribution to the joint work ”, smiles the interlocutor.

And when a new movie channel was launched in the Balticum TV show package, at that time the teenage A. Straupas sold his baked CDs with film recordings to translators and speakers for two of his summers from morning to night. ; at that time, more advanced solutions were still in demand. path.

The interlocutor does not deny that it may seem to some in the country that, as a descendant of one of the executives and shareholders of TV, he has already been given a warm place and an almost dream job in advance.

“But to come here to work, I first had to grow up. I’ll say it frankly: that was my father’s attitude, and he did it with a lot of love to protect me, ”says the head of the regional television newscast.

Point of tension since childhood

A.Straup, who began his television career as a cameraman, admitted that he not only constantly felt a responsibility not to be disappointed, but also an obligation to show himself worthy of his job at all times.

“My last name was never a relief for me, on the contrary, it was more of an obligation. Since I was little it was a certain point of tension, because I can’t relax, I don’t have to deal with nonsense. From what I had to endure, no employee experienced anything like this. So that I can be trusted to show that I can do even more. I started from the bottom as an operator, and that was my position until about 2018. But it is not the most important position, I never worked in it alone. Even now, “he admits. Audrius, who currently dedicates most of his efforts to creating the” Everyday Worries “talk show.

A.Straupas, who has a legal education, also had the experience of working on the other side of the barricades, when he had to taste the bread of a public relations specialist from Klaipėda municipality.

At that time, even in the media, Audrius was appointed spokesman for the mayor of the city, and public opinion about the well-known surname was not very friendly; he probably would have had to persevere here for a long time and prove his worth. However, the young man who recently graduated from this position did not stay long.

Only now can Audrius admit that the official version was made public at the time, as if he were going to London to improve; to study public relations, it really had little to do with reality.

“I left this job not because of personalities or conflicts, as it may have seemed to someone then. At that time, I just didn’t need such activities. I was too young for that. Also, I went through a period of personal relationship crisis. I needed a very serious relationship. clear and difficult. physical work to break with myself. And as soon as the opportunity to leave arose, I did not hesitate to take advantage of it “, recalls the interlocutor.

Black work Hollywood spindesy

While in the capital of Great Britain, a Klaipeda resident got a job as a waiter’s assistant at a popular Japanese restaurant, the so-called bar-back.

According to Audrius, in Lithuania it remains an exotic position in English bars, clubs or restaurants that receive large flows of customers and is an inevitable daily life.

“It was a very serious place in central London; I probably saw half of Hollywood while working there,” Audrius smiles. It helped me to develop as a person and to get rid of all the fears, complexes that were left from adolescence. Of course, there I also wanted to show that I can be the best. And I was converted ”.

Returning from a rather intense and colorful year of emigration, Audrius did not immerse himself much in the calm, warm waters of television.

“It was a very difficult time. When I got here, I saw how many things were bleeding, first of all, in terms of equipment, work ethic,” said the interlocutor visually. “It is extremely difficult to assemble a professional team in Klaipeda for that job. An inexperienced person gives himself a lot and then goes elsewhere … Of course, it is impossible to avoid, but it is not easier. I wanted to help him.”

To the rhythm of an endless challenge

However, Audrius does not deny: good prices, seasoned with responsibility, maximalism and youthful idealism, had to pay a considerable price.

“You work seven days a week, you sleep four hours a day and you still want to make a living. You still have to throw something away, get the engine running, because there really is nothing to do without you. I couldn’t go on vacation for more than two years. “Because I just didn’t have anyone to replace me. Of course, many times I was frustrated with everything, I was also nervous, I felt depressed, I saw something negative everywhere. I’m sorry that at that moment I came out of that tension, stress , and I was angry, angry and saying something strictly, but I always felt bad after that.

The young man was looking for his own ways out of the deeply submerged swamp.

The most important thing is not to deny yourself, accept the pain and return to yourself with love.

“The most important thing is not to deny yourself, accept the pain and return to yourself with love,” philosophized the interlocutor, who now qualifies peace as one of the greatest values in life.

Audrius does not deny that the winds of positive change were brought not only by the sport discovered almost three years ago, but also, in a sense, by the difficult decision to say goodbye to the news show earlier this year, which became a excessive financial burden for television.

Instead of taking – giving

“Probably only for the last two or three years have I really felt like I can make time for myself. I used to feel a lot of guilt doing something for myself. It was like that machine that hasn’t been invested in for many years and the speed pedal is fully depressed. “If you don’t work hard, you don’t work at all. It took me time, experience, and courage to admit to yourself that this is a misconception. But I don’t regret a single day. I have a scandal for what I am doing. interlocutor.

The pleasure of self-expression, the daily improvement, the feeling of being in your place, according to Audrius, not only gives you infinite satisfaction today.

“I’m very happy that dad can now spend time with himself, with his hobbies, especially music, traveling more with his mom, which he couldn’t afford for many years. He always needed a lot of work and hanging out at the There is only one moment when you also have something to give to your parents, as in your time all the best that your parents have given you “, says the interlocutor.

Cinema, music: for this passion in life that has accompanied him from a very young age, A. Straup is undoubtedly also grateful to his father. Even without learning to write music, Audrius creates electronic music that is widely available to the public on a variety of virtual music platforms.

As A. Straup admits, similar hobbies probably come together even more than work, the son and father tandem can often be seen at various events where V. Straup is a DJ.

“In general, lately we have been trying to talk less about work, because it also poisons the relationship in some way, unnecessarily overloading those problems,” says the interlocutor.

Why do I have to separate from a family that I love because someone doesn’t think of something that way? And what kind of parents don’t want their children to love and interact with them?

Live in love or angry?

Noting that the son and the father still have a surprisingly strong connection, Audrius clarifies that that relationship ties his entire family together.

“In general, the Italian family calls us. Of course, also because of our emotionality”, smiles the interlocutor.

A man in his third decade does not deny that young people today are often unwilling to cultivate a close relationship with their parents and to be openly proud of it, as if they feel uncomfortable, ashamed.

“I don’t understand the comments when people say: ‘You are attached to your mother, to your father. Yes, they are my parents, why do I have to separate from them, from my sister? Why do I have to separate from the family that love why wouldn’t someone think of something like that? ‘ And what kind of parents do not want their children to love and interact with them? “Rhetorically asks the interlocutor.

According to Audrius, a significant number of people’s relationships with their parents are repeated due to the grievances experienced during childhood and adolescence.

“But be mature yourself, talk about it. Yes, it takes time to mature. It can be a long and painful process. With conflicts, disagreements. But you have to answer the question: what do you want? Do you want to live with people in love, or “Do I want to be angry? I don’t want to get mad. And first we have to learn to clean here, in our mind. And mistakes have always been and always will be. Because we not only grow, but our parents grow with us, “says the interlocutor.
