After examining the report of the Seimas members, the Special Investigation Service (STT) has launched a pre-trial investigation into the circumstances of the issuance of the building permit and the completion of the construction of cabins in Vilnius, in the so-called Barrio of the Signatories.
During the pre-trial investigation, the circumstances relating to the possible improper performance of the functions of the employees of the former employees of the State Inspectorate for Spatial Planning and Construction under the Ministry of the Environment (VTPSI) will be investigated.
It will be clarified if a criminal offense has been committed that has given rise to situations in which the declarations of completion of work have been approved, registered in the Property Registry and acquired by people for possible illegal actions of VTPSI employees, but it resulted that the declarations were accompanied by a building permit. on the basis of which the declarations were approved, it did not comply with the construction permit contained in IS Infostatyba. As a result, people who bought residential cabins in Vilnius learned that they were built illegally, could be demolished, and therefore had to present an explanation to the court on the initiative of VTPSI, which a few years ago confirmed the legality of the building.
The investigation was initiated in accordance with article 229 of the Penal Code. “Breach of official duties”. The investigation is carried out by the Central Investigation Board of the STT, the investigation is controlled by the Prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
