“I quit work, but I don’t know if it’s that interesting here. It’s completely normal here, it has nothing to do with anything, ”A. Pranaitis told BNS on Wednesday.
“I leave my job and move to another position (…) I want to work as an ecologist and I will work with him,” he added.
A. Pranaitis did not disclose the reasons for assuming a lower position, but denied that it was related to political matters.
“It’s my personal thing here, but there is really no politics here. If you think there is any criticism here with the Minister of the Environment, then I don’t see any connection between these things,” said the reserve director.
He also claimed that the resignation was motivated by an audit of the Žuvintas reserve.

“A bit about these things,” said A. Pranaitis.
He said he would take on new responsibilities in December and use the license accumulated until then.
“I’ll probably be in another position in December. I have all kinds of vacations and so on for another week,” said the head of the reserve.
When asked if he had written a request to resign, he said he had “agreed” with Albert Stanislovas, director of the State Service for Protected Areas.
“It just came to our attention then. There is definitely no policy here, but A. Stanislovaitis can explain it better,” said A. Pranaitis.
He also said that he did not yet know exactly how much his salary would drop.
“The salary may go down, let’s see, but there are expert activities, I’m a naturalist,” said the director of the Žuvintas reserve.
This year, he criticized the new regulations of the Žuvintas Reserve adopted by the Government at the proposal of the Minister of the Environment K. Mažeika regarding hunting and fishing in the reserve.

A. Pranaitis has managed the Žuvintas reserve since 2002, when its then leader, the famous naturalist Vytautas Nedzinskas, died.
