A new shift of Lithuanian soldiers embarked on a military training operation in Ukraine

Lithuania, independently and together with its allies, provides support for Ukraine’s ongoing reforms in the field of education and military training, and helps to apply Western standards in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to increase mutual interaction with the armies of the NATO countries.

In addition, in order to bring the Ukrainian army closer to Western standards and provide an opportunity to learn to work according to NATO procedures, Lithuania invites Ukrainian soldiers to study in Lithuanian military training institutions, finances the studies of Ukrainian officers at the Baltic Defense College. Lithuania started supporting Ukraine more intensively with military instructors, training opportunities, strategic advice and other military means after 2014. There has been a Russian aggression against this country.

This year, Lithuanian soldiers will continue to participate in other international operations and missions. It is planned that in 2021. Some 170 Lithuanian soldiers will participate in international operations of coalitions led by NATO, the European Union, the United Nations and the United States, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.
