The central part of the route passes through the Žagariai Geomorphological Reserve, which is designed to preserve the area formed by the edge of the glacier with large steep hills. The Dzūkija hills are not alpine mountains, but they are worth a walk behind them. The culmination of the route is a breathtaking panorama of Lake Dusia. This viewpoint rises 43 meters above the surface of the lake.

In the second kilometer it is worth entering a swamp with a small lake. A frequent visitor appreciates the swamp for its photogenicity. And naturalists are interested in a rare inhabitant of the lake – a small fish lake rainbow, which feels great in the water even in oxygen-starved conditions. In winter, the fish sleeps buried in the mud at the bottom, so it is not afraid if the body of water freezes to the bottom.
During the journey you will reach the street villages of Žagariai and Nakrūniškės. The vast majority of rural farms are located on both sides of the same street. The residential houses still retain the characteristics of Dzūkija: modest, one-story, with broken windows. It’s fun to hike in fall when the red maple leaves are red.
Not only the expanse of Lake Dusia, but also the famous restored Temple of the Cross can be seen from the Trakai Desert Observation Point.
The last stretch of the route leads to the sandy shores of Lake Dusia, which is especially wide this fall.
