A monument to JK Chodkevičius was erected and the award was awarded at the initiative of the Jonas Karolis Chodkevičius Charity and Support Foundation, gathered by the public, with funding from private sponsors.

Edmundas Jakilaitis, director of the JKChodkevičius Charity and Support Foundation, drew attention to the security and strengthening of the state by presenting the award.

“In awarding this award, we were looking for a person who, acting in various fields, does more than he should and whose activities reinforce the security of Lithuania. We were looking for a modern man who would work on the principles of a Renaissance personality. A person who values freedom and honor, “said the foundation’s director in a statement.

“Director J.Ohman not only makes films about the Lithuanian partisans, but also organizes the January 13 commemorations in Vilnius. “He contributes steadily and professionally to the victories of the Ukrainian army in the war, to the development of civil society in Ukraine, to the better living conditions of Ukrainian children, especially war orphans and frontline children”, said.

John Ohman said the award was a reminder that his work was not only remarkable but also significant.

“For me, the history of this entire region, Lithuania, Ukraine, is alive. The further I advance, the more deeply I realize that history is alive, turning towards us, urging us to live. This award is a sign that it what I am doing is correct and makes sense. I am very happy that not only do I understand what is happening around us, “said medal winner JK Chodkevičius.

He was also greeted by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, a longtime supporter of the Blue / Yellow organization founded by J. Ohman and mobilizing support for Ukraine.

“There are times to congratulate an event or a person on several occasions, but here is a very difficult minute, I need to congratulate what I consider my friend. It is difficult not to cry, “said the head of government.

“JKChodkevičius was a great statesman and a great European. This is very important to us. He can be a great man for the state, acting for various states, just like John does. He works for Lithuania, for the freedom of Ukraine. These are not gardens with which their good works are related, it is an idea. This is a very deserved and very timely award, “he added.
