The Vilnius City District Court found the 49-year-old foreigner guilty of seizing the document and using it and imposed a fine of 100 minimum living standards (5,000 euros), the prosecutor’s office said.

During the year, the convicted person will have to pay a final fine of 4,800 euros, and the time spent in his temporary detention will be counted as a fine of 200 euros.

The pre-trial investigation began on September 15, when a foreigner used a foreign passport to access one of the capital’s supermarkets.

The violation was established by a store security officer, it was suspected that when a foreign citizen displayed the QR code of the passport of opportunity, the Lithuanian first and last name were displayed on the scanning device.

An Uzbek citizen working for a construction company explained that he had obtained a foreign document at the workplace by photographing a passport from the construction manager on the builders’ car.

After assessing the fact that during the preliminary investigation the man admitted his guilt and sincerely regretted, the prosecutor of the Vilnius District Prosecutor’s Office requested the court to terminate the process by means of a criminal order.
