A man who committed fraud throughout Lithuania was captured in Kaunas: the damage was almost 18 thousand euros

Officials from the Kaunas County Police Chief’s Station (hereinafter Kaunas County LSC), in cooperation with prosecutors from the Marijampolė District Prosecutor’s Office of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office, filed a criminal case in which a young person is accused of a serious crime, in accordance with the indications of the offenses provided for in article 182 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania 2 d. (fraud).

According to statements submitted by two natural persons and two companies that provide construction equipment, construction tools and equipment, sound equipment rental services, a pre-trial investigation was launched at the Kaunas Dainava Police Station, requesting to find out the fraud, a person who entered into a construction equipment rental and tool lease and takes these leased items into their possession, not only did they not return the agreed time, but also avoided any contact with the owners of the items. They did not respond to the indicated mobile phone, did not respond to emails, and generally did not respond to calls to return rented tools and equipment.

The victims and the representatives of the companies were immediately contacted by the police, who estimated the material damage suffered at more than € 17,600.

After launching a pre-trial fraud investigation and taking numerous procedural actions, officers from the Dainava Police Station soon discovered that an Alytus resident was a suspect in this crime. The 23-year-old does not work or study anywhere, he has been repeatedly administratively sanctioned for various infractions of the law. He has also been convicted of various crimes in the past and has already been recognized as a repeat offender at such a young age by court order, as he has been convicted of dozens of thefts of foreign property, theft, illegal possession of firearms, acquisition and sale of criminal assets, etc.

This Alytus resident, inspired by another grief, came up with a criminal plan: renting professional tools and sound equipment, such as a soil compactor, a milling machine, a vibrating plate, a washable pump, an angle cutter, in various companies located in Lithuanian cities or with individuals. with speakers, etc., and then sell these items to outsiders for a monetary reward. This way of obtaining profits did not last long, since the victims and the representatives of the companies, who estimated the material damage suffered at more than 17,600 euros, immediately turned to the police for help on suspicion of fraud. As the fraud scheme was cleared up and the fraudster arrested before a long period of time and before all the items were realized, the expensive tools and construction machinery equipment were returned to their rightful owners.

The suspect confessed to the crime and identified the main motive for the crime as lack of money to live. At present, the criminal case has been transferred for trial to the Kaunas Chamber of the Kaunas District Court; the accused is awaiting the final verdict of the court.
