Vilnius County Commissariat Chief of Police Ukmergė d. Svetlana Liaudanskienė and Marius Aleknavičius, the patrol chiefs of the police station, had to cling to half a kilometer in a hurry, running towards people who needed help.

February 11 around 12 pm 43 min. A message was received from a Savanorių linija employee that a woman needed help. The man, who called the volunteers, said that while driving from Vilnius, near the first entrance to Ukmergė, he was stopped by a woman who claimed help was needed for a person living on a single farm. The main patrols S.Liaudanskienė and M.Aleknavičius arrived at the indicated place.

Disasters are heating up on the stove, it’s just not clear what they use for fuel: no firewood has been seen and the snow around is blackened …

After talking to the woman, she learned that she lives with a friend on only one farm, the Pivonia Eldership. The path to the unique farm is swollen.

The old woman said she did not have a cell phone, so she could not ask for help. That her grandmother was telling the truth was also told by her footprints in the snow. Unable to pass, the patrols clung to the house in the depths.

It turned out that the house had burned down once and the couple were in a pantry, heating themselves in the oven. “It is not clear what it uses as fuel, because no firewood was seen and the snow around it was blackened …”, said the official.

The 71-year-old woman explained to officials that she owned a home with a 63-year-old friend. The couple lives without electricity, they have no telephone connection. The man is sick, he has run out of medication. Both arrived from Vilnius in March, before the quarantine, the road to the house was bulky, so they could not ask for help.

Then he called the ambulance squad. Doctors examined the man, gave him medicine, but did not take him to hospital.

“It took us four hours to provide social assistance, but we were calm because we had done everything,” said S. Liaudanskienė, hoping that the old man would take care of these people.
