On the night of July 26, while walking near the house in Šiauliai, on Radviliškio Street, Arūnas Pekarskas, an officer from the Department of Operational Management who has been working for the police for 25 years, saw a BMW collide with a tree .
Without waiting for anything, Arūnas approached the driver, introduced himself as an existing police officer and showed him a service card. He immediately suspected that the BMW driver was intoxicated, so Arūnas offered to wait for the police crew and find out the circumstances together.
However, the driver was not impressed with the idea and replied: “mindYou will not prove anything. “The aggressive man wanted to escape as soon as possible, he began to actively resist, but the officer generally did not let him go.
When the men clashed, Arūnas’s arm broke, and then, on the occasion, the BMW driver broke free and began to collide. Perhaps he hoped the injured officer would not leave and manage to get out of the ball dry. However, Arūnas remained stubborn: he followed the fugitive to the ladder he ran into and called the police.
The crew soon arrived and, with the help of neighbors living in the same house, officers discovered the code for the stairwell door and the department number of the BMW owner. The door was opened by the same 46-year-old man who fought with Arūnas. The alcohol meter put it at 1.84 avg. drunkenness.
Only after he and his colleagues found and arrested a drunk driver did Arūnas take care of his broken hand – doctors took him to the hospital.
Well, Gintautas Šiaulys, who has been serving in the Šiauliai Police for 28 years, finds himself in various situations. However, in a situation where you are seeing the accident from start to finish with your own eyes for the first time.
On his night of July 21 in Šiauliai, Architektų Street, the Deputy Chief of the Šiauliai County Police Public Order Service, who was on vacation and relieved of official concerns, was driving home with his wife when he saw a motorcycle from four wheels in the opposite lane and the driver stopped driving.

The ATV aired, spun, and its driver fell in the driveway. Gintautas stopped for a moment and ran to the man who was on his knees to help him. However, instead of helping him, he had to be restrained because when he took off from the ground he was riding a motorcycle on wheels and wanted to flee the scene of the accident.
He was hit by the driver’s alcohol, was aggressive, and reluctant to listen to Gintautas, so he had to use wrestling actions and leave the driver on the ground. At that time, the people who were observing the incident called the police officers, to whom Gintautas handed over the detainee. Examination of the scene revealed that the ATV had clogged and damaged not one but two cars.
The 41-year-old ATV flatly refused to verify the drunkenness. Visually, the man was seen to be intoxicated: he was betrayed by incoherent language and the smell of alcohol. Doctors found bruises and abrasions on the driver’s back, arms and legs.
The two drunk drivers mentioned above were detained and both underwent pretrial investigations for drunk driving. The Penal Code deals with the avoidance of the intoxication test when there are obvious signs of intoxication such as drunk driving, therefore, the evasion of the test did not help the driver detained by Gintautas to avoid criminal liability.
Siauliai County Police Chief Ramūnas Sarapas praises his subordinates, who do not shy away from reacting to situations during their spare time. If it weren’t for Arūnas and Gintautas, drunk drivers could have escaped the scene, damaged more vehicles, injured or even killed people.
