A few years ago, the news appeared that a crematorium was to be built in the Klaipėda district, near the Lėbartai cemetery, in the forest territory of the Toleikiai village, the old age of Dovilai.
Now it has been announced that the crematorium complex near Klaipeda will open next year. The project developer Stasys Gvažiauskas says that the completion of the contract with the construction contractor is scheduled for October 2021, most realistically that permanent activities will begin in November next year. Intensive construction is currently underway on the site of the future complex, and equipment for crematoria is being manufactured in Italy.
According to him, due to the modern equipment, the cremation service in the new complex will take only about an hour, when customers now have to wait at least 3 hours at the crematorium that operates in Lithuania. The ritual services complex is being built about 15 km from Klaipėda, near the Lėbartai cemetery.
Klaipėda residents can probably calm down, no two crematories are needed in the county, therefore the first to start operating is likely to work, writes “Kauno diena”.
