Didn’t fly home a month ago

Laura and Dominic’s plan was to go public in Fuerteventura for a month, but the couple is already spending a second here.

“I would like to stay in this place for a year or at least until it is our turn to get vaccinated. They both really like being here. We have that tradition: when it is cold in Lithuania, we go somewhere to hot countries. Last year we failed due to a pandemic, and this year, as we all work and study remotely, we cannot communicate with our relatives, we decided to apply the peculiarities of remote communication where it is hot, in Fuerteventura ”, says L.Paukštė.

Dominykas laughs that the desire to return to Lithuania was “repelled” only by the difference in air and temperature.

“Of course, we also follow the news of the pandemic in our homeland,” he says. The couple does not hide the long-delayed trip abroad.

“We have seen that it is really possible to combine work and science remotely. Since both my daughters and my classes are currently online only, there were definitely no problems. Also, we have finished making a movie, now we are filming another clip, we will try to direct it from a distance, if it is successful, then we can continue working while we are here ”, Laura opens.

Enjoy aquatic entertainment

With all the water sports available in Fuerteventura, its beaches are perfect for this, for Laura and Dominic’s family, this area seems like a paradise.

“If there are no waves, then there is wind, and vice versa. As soon as we finish the job, we all go to the ocean. Our daughter Matilda and other children also love the water; We took my daughter to the pool for the first time, when she was only 6 weeks old, she still couldn’t pay her head. Now Matilda can stay in the water for many hours, and it doesn’t matter if her lips turn blue, green, or some other color. For her it is never cold, water is her element“Says Dominykas.

Two more children, from the previous relationship between Dominic and Laura, also plan to arrive in Fuerteventura soon.

“The children are already preparing for the trip, although we are a little worried and hope that the islands do not close until their arrival. There are many kitesurfing and surfing clubs, and you can spend the whole day outdoors. Close to the ocean and all water entertainment opportunities. They would love it, ”says Laura.

As soon as it arrived, freedom was received.

When Laura and Dominic flew to Fuerteventura, everything was very free, there were cafes, bars and restaurants.

“It is true that everywhere, except on the beaches and restaurants, it was mandatory to wear masks. Now the situation is changing, hardening: no more than 4 people can sit at a table.

It was only during the first wave of the pandemic that there were the same limitations across the country; Later, the government realized that this was not very logical and allowed each municipality to regulate itself according to the situation. There used to be marches and carnivals on the weekends in Fuerteventura, now there are none. We hear that some islands are planning to close, we are a little worried if our children will be able to fly, ”says Dominykas.

According to Laura, there are currently only 100 people in the Canary Islands.

“We were looking for a place in Europe so that it would be easy to come back when the situation worsened again. Our friends Vita and Gediminas Degučiai also live here. They spend a lot of time in Fuerteventura, they can be called elders, they both know everything that surrounds them well and they know it, that gave our family an extra peace ”, says L.Paukštė.

Would you like to live in Fuerteventura

Both Laura and Dominic do not hide that they really think about the life and future of Fuerteventura.

“When I came here, I said it was a place where I wanted to stay. Will it be possible to purify something? It’s probably too early to guess, but thoughts about it are already spinning.

An apartment with a sea view in Fuerteventura really costs less than an apartment in Užupis. We are currently renting an apartment in a two-story house on the seashore: in the morning, when the first changes begin and the sun shines, it is simply unique.

Since this island is not particularly touristy, you can live here like a dream. I have also been to Tenerife, the area has not left as positive an impression as Fuerteventura, which is small, maybe 100 kilometers long, but you can see very different views while driving those kilometers, there is no shortage of strange mountains like Mars ”, shares L .Paukštė.

Dominikas adds that living in a warm country is a bit cheaper.

“Food in stores is cheaper than in Lithuania. True, not twice: the family’s total weekly shopping cart here costs about 30 euros less. Prices in cafes are also a bit lower, let’s say that a hot plate is at least five euros cheaper.

There is also a so-called free zone here. If you need to buy clothes or appliances, you do not have to pay VAT.

We would spend more money in Palanga than in Fuerteventura.

Another advantage of this area: the entire coast is white sand, just like in the movies. To disagree with people, you can completely disagree with them unless you go to the grocery store for food.

This is not a place “styled” by tourists, like Tenerife. It is true that there are places to have fun in the northern part of the island, but we have not been before, we have other activities ”, adds Dominykas.
