The high street house will greet passersby this spring with a renovated roof. The object at the intersection with Smilties Pylimo Street is scheduled to be completely renovated in December. The house, built in the last century, should be integrated into the street architecture with authentic facades: the owners were interested in the history of the entire area before starting work.
“The roof will remain the same: red tiles. The building will not rise or fall. Only major repairs are made to the facade and roof,” said Modestas Mikutis, director of remodeling company Modaista.
The building’s owners were interested in its history before undertaking the renovation. The architects were consulted on how to make it as authentic as possible. In some places it is considered to leave the masonry open.
“We keep the same proportions, there will be no modernism. They only appear at the top of windows. And the facade will be new to each other, “said the director of the roof renovation company.

The three-story house marked with the first number on Upper Street was built in 1918.
Archaeologists have discovered artifacts from the 19th and 20th centuries in the vicinity. Human remains have been found and excavated, presumably from an ancient cemetery here.
The town of Zandver was located on a part of Viršutinės and Sportininkų streets a century ago. The German name means sand barrier. It was inhabited by workers, mainly planting forests and planting sand dunes. The village was later connected to the city.
“The building has survived several generations and various powers,” laughed M. Mikutis.
The last building in the building was owned by the company that managed the Vitės Valdos residential house. However, the owners who acquired the object four years ago had to manage it in principle.
Roofers say they are used to working on old houses, but admit that this time they had to sweat a lot.
“It is difficult. However, it must be cleaned, dismantled. A lot of garbage accumulated. No one lived in the attic for so many years. But we will fix everything that we take to landfills,” said M. Mikutis.
The owners hope to restore the most authentic building only with a modern infrastructure, so that it fits perfectly with the nearby buildings. The residential house will be equipped with six apartments.
