The Atlantic reported that Trump described the Marines buried in an American cemetery near Paris as “losers” and in 2018 they refused to visit their graves because they did not want the rain to ruin their hairstyles.
D. Trump assured reporters Thursday that the report was false.
“To think that I could speak negatively about our military forces and fallen heroes when I accomplished what no one else has done is a complete lie. It is a humiliation,” he said.
According to the president, he did not go to the cemetery because bad weather conditions prevented the helicopter flight. The only alternative was a long car ride, which would have required driving through the streets of Paris, where there were many cars, the Secret Service objected.
“The Secret Service told me I couldn’t do it, I said I wanted to, I wanted to be there. However, they assured me that I couldn’t, ”said the president.
