Police in Essex, in the south-east of England, said two men had been detained at Stansted Airport on Monday night when a Ryanair plane landed due to “security alerts.”
Two fighter jets had taken off from a nearby military base, escorting a Ryanair plane to the airport.
The airline reported that a note was found in one of the plane’s toilets stating that there were explosives on the plane.
However, a search for the plane that flew from Krakow to Dublin found nothing suspicious.
“Two men, ages 47 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of threatening to jeopardize the plane; actually [jie] detained, “Essex police said.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all the people involved,” added the report.
