CSKA Moscow has terminated its contract with Howard Sant-Roos, who joined the team last season.

The striker, who came from Athens AEK, had a contract with the Russian club until the summer of 2021, but CSKA took advantage of the option provided in the contract to not continue cooperation after last season.

Journalist Nikos Varl reports that Sant-Roos will complement the Panathinaikos in Athens.

The Moscow team explains its decision with a decreasing budget.

“Unfortunately, due to shrinking budgets and financial problems during a pandemic, we cannot afford the additional costs. We are launching Sant-Roos and we thank you for your work last season,” reads the CSKA official website.
