“Lithuania expresses its solidarity with the families of the victims and supports their efforts and those of the Dutch government to seek recognition of Russia’s responsibility for this tragedy at the European Court of Human Rights, as well as the trial of four suspects initiated by the Netherlands this year, “the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

“The perpetrators of this tragedy must be brought to justice,” the ministry said.

In the statement, Lithuania asked Russia “to finally recognize the conclusions of the Joint Investigation Committee on its role in the shooting down of the MH17 plane and to cooperate unconditionally with the UN and the Dutch court.”

A plane flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down by a Russian-made missile over the part controlled by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. The accident killed all 298 passengers and crew, 196 of whom are from the Netherlands.

Last year, Dutch officials decided to shoot down four people in Ukraine: three Russians and one Ukrainian citizen.
