Why is this important? Otherwise, if you only read the selective tables, you will not have a complete picture of the real wealth of politicians.

There are many cases in which a member of the Seimas declares that he owns a property for a much smaller quantity than what is actually the material well managed by his family.

The secret here lies in the statements of the spouses, which are sometimes simply overlooked.

The wealth of the family is in the hands of the wives.

An example is the data of the five richest members of the Seimas.

If we select the group of declaring positions “Members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania” in the fields of the ITS website, the first five will look like this:

1. Ramūnas Karbauskis (LVŽS) – 24.33 million. euros
2. Bronius Bradauskas (LSDP) – 8,331 million. euros
3. Gabrielius Landsbergis (TS – LKD) – 1.54 million. euros

As you can see, in some cases, millions of wealth in the families of politicians are managed not by the spouses themselves, but by their spouses, in this case, the wives of the politicians A. Landsbergienė and R. Rutkelytė.

Comparing the change in the size of the property managed by in-laws during the year, it can be seen that the property of the Karbauskiai family increased by 8.34 million. euros The changes in the property of the Bradauskas family are not comparable, because the politician did not have to file a statement for 2018 (he was not a member of the Seimas), Landsbergiai, increased by 12.64 million. Compared to their colleagues in the Seimas, Rūta Miliūtė, Arvydas Nekrošius and the conservative Arvydas Anušauskas, members of the Seimas, also declared their poor property.
