“A few years ago, I organized trainings at the student representation office, after which I transported several people through the city center, where there were no gas stations. I forgot to refuel, so I stopped uphill with people I know little about. It was cruelly embarrassing and cruelly unpleasant: we pushed the car as much as we needed and went with the tank to refuel. The next time we ran out of gas on the way to college, luckily, there were fewer people nearby, less advertising, so there was less embarrassment. But after these times, the car took longer to start, “he recalls.

According to her, a frequent driver can underestimate if the remaining fuel will be enough for the planned trip, sometimes without stopping to refuel during a race, but it must be understood that such risk will require even more time in case of failure.

“Sometimes, sometimes you think you’re lazy, and sometimes I think I’ll wait until I get paid, and then I will recharge. Therefore, I would advise you, even when you can’t fill a full tank, to fill it up at least so that you don’t It hurts through your wallet. The most important thing is not to leave yourself in such a stupid situation, when later you get angry with yourself, since I didn’t think about it here, “she says.

Driving with the “last drops” is harmful to the car

According to Vytautas Paulikas, director of the company Pro Servisai, driving the “last drops” can not only interrupt the trip in an unexpected place, but also damage the car.

“Typically, fuel runs out when a person naturally forgets to fill it up on time. Sometimes when a fuel light comes on, it is expected to reach the travel destination, drivers are unfortunately at risk of falling in an unpleasant situation. However, fuel can run out unexpectedly even in the event of a car breakdown: the car may incorrectly show how much fuel is left in the tank and may not show it at all. If the cause is a fault, it must be addressed because driving with the last drops is dangerous. There is a variety of sediment, sometimes water, at the bottom of the fuel tank, and when all of this gets into the engine, the car gets damaged. Solving these problems then costs hundreds euros ”, he warns.

When you run out of fuel on the road, the most convenient and cheapest solution is to seek help from family members who can carry fuel. However, V. Paulikas warns that the fuel may end up in a place that would not be convenient for those close to him.

“If the accident happened in a place where we don’t have people close to us who can help, then we turn to car services, which bring fuel and help to start the car. Another solution is to call a trawl to bring the car to a place where I can refuel, ”he says.

However, the specialist warns that driving with fuel residues can cause the power steering and the brake booster to malfunction when the engine stops, making it difficult even for an experienced driver to control the car, which can lead to a very difficult situation. dangerous on the road.

“If you allow the fuel to run out completely, you can incur significant repair costs. In the absence of fuel, the injection system may malfunction and the fuel mixture may not ignite.
