Simona de Šiauliai and her husband bought a Volvo V60 hybrid car.
Such a modification of the car was not found in the database, so a Regitra employee suggested contacting Volvo’s official representatives to submit a certificate. The problem is that said document would cost even more: 180 euros.
“Biškis is unfair, if the state came up with the idea of charging for pollution, then they had to take care of them, there are not so many cars that they do not know, that model is not the only one in Lithuania,” says the owner of the car, Simona Kalnikienė .

A woman can only drive an unregistered car for 15 days, and Šiauliai does not want to pay for what she does not own.
“Yes, yes, according to the law, you should not pay anything for them, and we were asked to pay 120 euros for diesel. I think it is unfair,” says S. Kalnikienė.
A Regitra spokesman shrugged and said that while the logic here was not too much, his office only enforces the law, and if the car owner disagrees, the truth should be sought in court.
“Justice in Lithuania is administered by the courts, not by Regitra, probably. It is very difficult for me to say what is right here, what is wrong. Yes, it seems illogical. But I would assess those risks when buying a car,” he says. Saulius Šuminas, Deputy Director of Regitra. .
Saulius Šuminas, Deputy Director General of Regitra, says that there may be more similar cases, because there are countries from which cars are parked and there is no such tax there and it is not included in the parameters of the car.
“There are vehicles from the Netherlands, from Denmark, so they do not write this parameter for hybrids. That is, certain countries from which cars are opened, if there is no such tax, then they do not attribute that attribute either. It means data from some no way accessed, received, and a person has an obligation to provide information on what they have to provide, “said S. Šumin.
Therefore, it is likely that if Simona still decides to search for the truth and buy a certificate from the dealers for 180 euros, that the car does not pollute and does not have to pay a pollution tax, then everyone who bought the same car no longer they will have to pay. But Simona asks why one person has to pay for all the others.
“It just came to our attention then. They should apply to Sosten Vilnius, get that official certificate, enter it into the system to emit 48g of CO, because this is also indicated on the manufacturer’s official website. And it would all work out that way. “says S. Kalnikienė.
But for now, registering a hybrid car that Regitra has no CO emissions has to accept a potentially unfair tax, buy a certificate from manufacturers’ representatives, or go to court.
