According to the head of state, the adopted laws could open the possibility of changing the management of the companies before the end of the current period of the Seimas.

The President of Las Seimas reconsidered the amendments to the Law on the Protection of Important Objects to guarantee national security and the use and disposal of state and municipal assets, approved by Seimas in the last days before the holidays.

The amendments established that as of November, the collegiate supervisory and management bodies of all state and municipal companies and their subsidiaries should be reorganized.

According to the President, the fact that the supervisory boards and the boards of all these state and municipal companies must be changed substantially at the same time, before the end of the current period, creates preconditions for hasty and non-transparent decisions.

“When the change in the management and supervisory bodies of all state and municipal companies is linked to November 1, too direct links are created with the Seimas elections and possible attempts to change the composition of the collegiate management bodies to end of this period, “says the head of state.

Returning the laws to Seimas for reconsideration, G. Nausėda proposed applying the changes envisaged in them to the formation of oversight and management bodies not for November 1, but for new bodies formed after that date.

This means that the existing collegiate supervisory and management bodies of companies could carry out their functions until the end of the period for which they were formed or until the new relevant supervisory or management bodies are formed.

The procedure to implement the planned changes proposed by G. Nausėda would guarantee the smooth and sustainable implementation of the changes, which would not jeopardize the continuity of the activities of state and municipal companies and related public needs, national security and public interest.
