Ahead of Friday’s draw ceremony, the European Cup announced team baskets. Returning to the tournament next season, Panevėžys Lietkabelis was placed in the third basket alongside Belgrade’s Partizan, Dolomiti Energia of Trento and Maccabi of Rišon Lezion.
The paths of the teams in the same basket will not cross in the first stage of the competition.
At an event in Barcelona on Friday, 24 teams from 15 countries will be divided into four groups of six.
In the regular season from September 30 to December 16, each team will play 10 games. The top four strongest clubs in each group will advance to the Top 16 stage, which runs from December 30 to February 3.
The quarterfinal stage with up to two wins will be played from March 2 to 10, the semifinals from March 16 to 24 and the finals from April 6 to 14.
