Along with him, three other members of Žalgiris’ coaching staff, Darius Maskoliūnas, Tomas Masiulis and Justinas Grainys, will move to the Barcelona club, according to a Kaunas club press release.
The coach of the Lithuanian men’s basketball team Maskoliūnas has been working as an assistant coach at Kaunas Club since 2015.
According to BasketNews.lt, he was the top candidate to take over Žalgiris after Jasikevičius left, but now the leaders of the Kaunas club will have to choose between other candidates. Kęstutis Kemzūra and Kazys Maksvytis are considered favorites to assume these positions.
Masiulis joined the headquarters of the main team in 2018, and before that he was the coach of the Žalgiris backup team.
Fitness coach Grainys has been working at Žalgiris for almost a decade, moving from youth to the core team in 2012.
Jasikevičius himself wanted to see good friends and colleagues in Spain with him, and “Žalgiris” did not create any obstacle to leaving.
“They are all great professionals and their work is highly appreciated. We thank Darius, Tomas and Justinas for their work at Žalgiris and wish them success in their future careers, “said Paulius Motiejūnas, Director of Žalgiris.
