Almost all parties to the case have appealed against the decision made by the Kaunas Regional Court on April 3.
The Attorney General’s Office, which has appealed against the sentence, requests that the three cousins that Bieliauskas accused in this case be sentenced to life imprisonment for the crimes committed.
According to the first instance court ruling, three Bieliauskas cousins were found guilty of the murder of I. Strazdauskaitė in Plungė in 2017, two robberies, destruction of property and illegal imprisonment. The court sentenced Leon Bieliauskas to life in prison, Karolis Bieliauskas to 17 years and Mantas Bieliauskas to 16 years in prison.
Algimantas Stankevičius of Marijamp and Tomas Zagurskas of Kėdainiai were also convicted in this case. They are sentenced to two years and two months and two years in prison, respectively, for participation in robbery, illegal possession and use of a firearm.
In a complaint filed with the Court of Appeal, the prosecutor’s office requests that T. Zagurskas be sentenced to four years in prison and A. Stankevičius to prison for four years and two months.
I. Strazdauskaitė’s parents, sister and ex-fiancee, who were recognized as victims in the case, also request to impose maximum penalties on two of the three accused and to impose a total of 400,000. compensation for non-pecuniary damage.
The Kaunas Regional Court jointly and severally awarded 4,510 euros in property damage to the parents of the murdered girls of the three cousins and 30,000 euros each. 15,000 euros for each non-pecuniary damage and 15,000 euros for each sister and fiancé of the murdered person. for non-pecuniary damages.
The convicts also filed complaints in the case, they are asking for a reduction of their sentences.
An appeal was also received from the convicted family members.
In March 2017, I. Strazdauskaitė left for Vilnius from his parents’ house in Plungė and disappeared unexpectedly. After several days of intensive searching, his body was found in the Kėdainiai district.
According to police, the girl was fatally beaten with a shovel.
