An official investigation into the actions of border guards was launched: a man wanted by Interpol escaped from the airport.

The man arbitrarily withdrew in an unknown direction during the inspection.

Police say he is currently wanted.

The man is wanted at the request of the Russian police, suspected of financial crimes, forgery of documents.

When the news portal tv3.lt contacted the head of the Prevention Division of the State Border Guard Service, he reported that the wanted man had arrived in Vilnius from Tallinn. According to him, he is a Russian citizen with a residence permit in Estonia. During the inspection, border guards noted discrepancies in the documents, and after verifying the data, it was clear that the man was being sought by Interpol.

According to G. Mišutis, during the inspection, the man withdrew and left the documents.

According to the head of the SBGS Prevention Division, mistakes can be seen in the actions of the border guards, therefore, an official inspection was started.

“If everything were done according to the established procedure, citizens would not have the opportunity to leave,” says G. Mišutis.
