“It just caught our eye then. We are committed to designing and constructing the building for three years, after which we will maintain it for another 12 years. Digital modeling methods were used during the design. We have set an ambitious goal: all electricity necessary to heat and ventilate the building will be generated on site from solar and geothermal energy. The design work is completed, construction begins. They will take place in an area of ​​2 hectares and will be equipped with more than 400 parking spaces. The building itself will occupy around 6.4 thousand kv meters of area, ”said Saulius Putrimas, General Manager of Statybos de Merko.

Three police stations, part of the administrative units, forensic investigations, and other units are planned to be moved to the new building.

New facilities are slated to open for Kaunas residents and police officers in 2021. in late 2022 in the beginning.

Elanas Jablonskas, temporary chief of Kaunas County Police, said she wanted to send a key message: that the organization cares about its members, that police officers can work with dignity.

“We will abandon inefficient and uneconomic buildings, save the police and, at the same time, state funds,” said E. Jablonskas.

Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis, who addressed his former colleagues, admitted that the police had so far been undeservedly forgotten. According to him, the city is currently implementing around 80 projects, during which solar panels will sprout on the roofs of Kaunas kindergartens and schools.

According to the project prepared by the architect Sigitas Kuncevičius, a four-storey administrative building and a one-storey annex building and a roof for cars will be erected. The building will comply with energy efficiency class A ++, that is, almost all the energy required for the operation of the building will come from renewable energy sources and will be one of the first such buildings in Lithuania.

There will also be ample parking in the area.

The new Kaunas County Police Building will be located in a very convenient location, close to the city center, very close to the main streets of Kaunas, Savanorių and Taikos Avenues.

Currently, the Kaunas County Police operates in twenty buildings with a total area of ​​22.7 thousand square meters. kv. meters, part of which is rented.

It was previously planned that after the construction of the new buildings, there would only be five places in Kaunas where the police would work, including the central police station building on Vytautas Avenue, which recalls the interwar period. It is scheduled to be updated.

According to preliminary calculations, after project implementation, Kaunas County LSC’s annual operating costs will be nearly 200,000. lower euros.
