A decision on Lukiškės Square is planned to be made in plenary stating that its commemorative accents should be devoted to freedom struggles.

Project managers registered in response to the Vilnius authorities’ decision to install a temporary beach on Lukiškės Square. Some politicians argue that this shows disrespect for the memory of those involved in the fight for freedom.

The representative of the Freedom Party, the mayor of the capital, Remigijus Šimašius, takes the position that the beach of Lukiškės square is equipped with the opportunity to enjoy freedom and “celebrate the fact that we are winners in the fight for our freedom. “

In the unforeseen session, it is also planned to present an amendment to the Constitution, which proposes to allow the election of people not under 21 as members of the Seimas. The Seimas will also decide on the amendment of the Constitution to establish the candidacy procedure after the dismissal.

The Seimas is considering amendments to the Constitution, which would allow those expelled for impeachment to run for the Seimas after a ten-year break. They seek to implement the decision of the Strasbourg court in the case of Rolandas Paksas, who was removed from the presidency, against Lithuania.

In 2011, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that the current ban on life-long participation in the Seimas elections for dissolved President Paksas is disproportionate.

On Monday, Seimas still plans to make a final decision so that the old-age pension is not reduced for people who have received an early old-age pension and have long work experience.

The Seimas spring session will end on Tuesday.
