On Saturday, the Labor Party also chose Viktor Uspaskich, the party’s founder and longtime leader, as its candidate for prime minister.

“We approved the prime ministerial candidate before the broadcast,” Fyodorov told BNS.
“Vigilijus Jukna refused and the party voted unanimously for Viktor Uspaskich,” he added.
A Labor Party spokesman said Jukna had withdrawn his candidacy because “he saw that the president could better represent the party.”
V. Uspaskich himself said during the congress that he was ready to assume responsibility for the management of the state.
