“One person shot by the armed police has died. Six other people are in hospital and receiving treatment for injuries, including a critically but stable police officer,” Steve Johnson, deputy chief police officer for Scotland, said in a statement.
According to Sky News, several people, one of them a police officer, were killed in the alleged attack.
Dozens of police cars had gathered at the scene of the incident. A police officer was reportedly wounded.

Sky News witnesses say they saw several bloody people being dragged out of a stretch of clothing at the Park Inn.
Glasgow police said the situation “is currently under control and there is no danger to society.”

The city council said in an information note on traffic conditions that several streets are currently closed due to a “serious police incident.”
Steve Johnson, Chief Deputy Scottish Police, said he wanted “to reassure the public that the incident is under control and that there is no danger to the general public.”
According to him, the police are not looking for any other person involved in the incident and that the injured police officer is receiving hospital assistance.
There have been unconfirmed reports that three people were injured with a knife during an incident that allegedly occurred at a hotel.
Louisa on West George Street told Sky News: “I saw people receiving medical help, there was blood on the ground. I also saw people running away from the hotel, and the police yelled “raise your hands, raise your hands and get out.” The police blocked the street, which was full of police and ambulances. Authorities have asked people in other buildings near the Park Inn to stay indoors and not take to the streets.
Police say the alleged attacker was shot at the scene. There are believed to be no more attackers.

Glasgow police said earlier Friday that security and rescue services were responding to the incident in the city center and urged people to avoid the area.
The city council said in an information note on traffic conditions that several streets are currently closed due to a “serious police incident.”
Sky News TV reported that several people were injured and shot during the incident.
Videos posted on social media show armed police officers entering a building. Rescue cars can be seen parked on the sides.
Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon told reporters that the reports were “truly terrifying” and that she was receiving constant updates.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was “very saddened by the terrible incident in Glasgow” and that he was “with all the victims and their families.”
Blood splattered earth
Videos posted on social media show the armed police gathering on West George Street. It was shown on television how several people were escorted out of the hotel with their hands raised above their heads.
A witness, quoted by the British Press Association, said he saw a man lying on the ground without shoes and a person holding him to the side.
“I don’t know if it was a gunshot wound, a stab wound, or something else,” said Craig Milroy, who works in a nearby office.
According to him, that man was one of four people taken off the scene by paramedics.
“After that, we noticed the turmoil, more ambulances arrived, we saw the armed police running towards the hotel next to the Society Room,” said the witness.
“We were still standing outside, and then all those policemen came, riot police. Then the aid team told us to go back and close the door.”
Another witness, who introduced himself to Louisa, told Sky News that he saw that “people were being helped in a blood spattered land.”
“I saw people running away from the hotel and the police screaming, ‘Hands up, get out!'” He added. “The entire street was full of police cars, ambulances, surrounded by a cordon.”
“The police yelled at other people in other buildings near the Park Inn to keep them on and off the street,” said the witness.
