Flights will take place on weekends, the first plane from Vilnius to Palanga will take off on Fridays at 6pm and will return to Vilnius on Sunday night. The flights will be organized by Kidy Tour together with the aircraft operator Avion Express.
According to Vilma Vaitiekūnaitė, representative of the Avia Solutions Group, the resumption of flights between Palanga and Vilnius was also affected by the coronavirus crisis.
“We should thank the pandemic, the terminated contracts and the closed borders for opening this address, because without the Baltic countries, there is not much we can fly.” That idea became an increasingly serious intention that we could fly to Palanga because the infrastructure is there. (…) all other addresses are not very reachable and it is not clear when they will be reached, “V. Vaitiekūnaitė told BNS.
Flights will take place during the summer season on 180 or 220 seat Airbus aircraft. According to V. Vaitiekūnaitė, there is interest in this direction, and the first plane will fly almost full.
According to the organizers, the price of the one-way ticket will cost from 45 euros, the flight takes about 50 minutes.
According to Lithuanian airports, the last time planes took off from Vilnius to Palanga was in 2006 when Flylal, which was now bankrupt, flew it.
