“I don’t know, it is possible that you, Juoza, have already massaged the whole Baltic road. Right? If we put the bodies of all the basketball players together, there would be a big queue from Vilnius to Tallinn,” asked the host of the G program. Savickas during the filming of the program.
“Really so. Fate was so decided that I gave massages to very tall people. That would be the case if you put them together according to your height,” replied J. Petkevičius with a wide smile.
Juozukas began his career in 1980 because he had a strong desire to go to the Olympics, and although, as an athlete, he was unable to do so, he found another way to get there.
“I first started to massage with my daughter because she was still studying. I remember I really wanted to go to the Moscow Olympics. It was not like that because I did not know the athletes, I decided to go as a masseur. I myself played rugby for fifteen years, devoted myself to judo and all other sports. However, as a masseur, he managed to reach eight Olympics ”, – said Juozas about the beginning of his career.
J. Petkevičius, who has been working as a masseur for more than 40 years, says that now everything is much easier and new technologies allow to receive services for which he was previously responsible only as a masseur.
“Now you don’t need so many hands, they are full of various devices that can replace massage. It hadn’t happened before, so all the work was for me. So, after tough competition, I tried to get the basketball players back,” he said. Juozas.
Juozukas, who is especially loved by basketball players, also revealed how he joked and spent time with one of the most famous basketball players of all time in Lithuania.
“With Arvydas Sabonis, especially when we were in the United States, we went to the store together and received a lot of attention. Because Americans were very interested in the difference in height, one tall and one short. We joked that I was Arvydas’s father, “J. Petkevičius didn’t laugh.
In various sections of the show, Juozas had to perform various tasks, in which he not only had to demonstrate the skills of his profession, but also in specially prepared photos to guess how famous the basketball player is depicted.
