The center of the Serbian national team, which has not played since the beginning of March, spent time in his homeland, and rumors of a significant reduction in his weight began to spread in early June.
Initially, Nuggets strategist Mike Malone called N. Jokitiai a “skinny and angry Serbian machine,” and soon Tim Connelly, president of the basketball operations team, commented on the team.
“Nikola is back in good shape at training camp. He sent me a shirtless photo, he had a belly. I’ve never seen him before,” said Connelly.
Photos confirming such speeches were soon released: N. Jokičius participated in the event in Belgrade, where he seemed to look much slimmer than before.
According to the official NBA website, N. Jokičius’s weight reached 129 kilograms, so the 213-cm-tall Serbian is now likely to weigh just 111 kg.
It is true, before being able to demonstrate the muscles developed in training, N. Jokičius still has a long way to go: yesterday it turned out that the center was infected with the coronavirus, so at least in the near future it will not be able to go to the U.S.
To leave his homeland, the midfielder must pass two negative COVID-19 tests, and additional tests will be performed upon his return to Denver.
N. Jokičius is expected to join the team before the start of training camp in Florida, which is scheduled for the second week of July.
